MEET TAMI WYNN: BREAST CANCER SURVIVOR

Meet Tami Wynn, our very own Mighty Warrior and so much more. This Miami transplant to Tallahassee has been dealt with more than her fair share of bad hands but has proven time and time again through perseverance and positive thinking her ability to adapt and overcome. 

Not only is Tami known to be a dedicated and loyal co-worker here at Keith Lawson Services; she leads a loving and active personal life. From outdoor activities like archery, kayaking, and riding her motorcycle with friends and family to her continuing volunteer work with Girl Scouts since 2011, Tami lives her life to the fullest and gives back often. 

She became a Girl Scout troop leader for her daughter many years ago and even with her daughter now grown she still spends much of her free time leading girls with knowledge, life skills, entrepreneurship, and service through leadership. In Girl Scouts, G.I.R.L. stands for Go Getter, Innovator, Risk Taker, and Leader, which is the best way to describe her. Working at KeithLawson Services, she is always checking in on others and is eager to learn.

Tami’s Battle With Breast Cancer

In April of 2023 our Fire Cracker’s life changed when she was diagnosed with breast cancer, finding out she also carries the BRCA 1 gene, which is one of seven breast cancer genes.

Tami has always been proactive with getting annual breast exams since her early twenties which ultimately saved her. She was able to catch the cancer early and was diagnosed with Stage 1. Getting those annual exams changed her journey through cancer, with her proactiveness being key. 

Only after many nights of personal research and calls with doctors, Tami decided to get a bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction. The surgery would come at a physical toll, but it was worth saving her life. Cancer survivors are blessed with two lives. There is your life before cancer, and your life after. 

Tami thinks her scars tell a story of what she has overcome. They are part of what makes her even more unique. With over 3 million women battling breast cancer today, everywhere you turn there is a mother, daughter, sister, or friend who has been affected by breast cancer. 

She continues to strive and keep her head up while advocating about being proactive when it comes to her health. She encourages everyone to put their health as a priority and that being proactive is key. Tami is a fighter and encourages everyone to be proactive, do your own research about your options and to save the Ta-Tas! Just like a flower, through rain or shine, Tami always grows.

The team at Keith Lawson Services is proud of not only Tami, but all women who are fighting the battle to win against breast cancer. We hope that sharing Tami’s story will provide encouragement to others who may also be going through this battle.
